WE’VE BEEN ON A BEAR HUNT! SASO’s children’s concerts a sell-out success.

SASO’s annual concerts for children on Sunday 17 November in St Saviour’s Church were a ‘growling’, sell-out success!

We played Ian Stephen’s scrumptious score for We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, including (uh-oh) ‘a totally groovy samba band’.  Thanks go to our wonderful narrator, Carl Heap, and to our oboist Linda Norton (usually) who was hidden in the teddy-bear costume.

Guest-leader Philippa Barton had children dancing in the aisles playing the showpiece Introduction and Tarantella by Sarasate (with special reference to spiders) and there was a real buzz among our flute players and thematically-dressed cellos for Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumble Bee.

So far as we could tell, our capacity family audiences had a beary, furry good time!
