Delayed by the pandemic, the St Albans St Cecilia Festival Society biennial concerts will resume on 15th October 2022, in St Albans Cathedral at 7.30pm.
Celebrating its 90th year, the St Albans Symphony Orchestra commissioned James Francis Brown to compose an instrumental piece for the orchestra; Heartwood Wilding will receive its world premiere in the Cathedral, conducted by the composer, who took inspiration from the nearby Heartwood Forest Woodland Trust development.
The orchestra will then accompany soloists and massed local choirs in Joseph Haydn’s large-scale oratorio The Creation. Conducted by John Gibbons, we are delighted to be joined by the Aeolian Singers, Hardynge Choir, Radlett Choir and St Albans Chamber Choir, and featuring Inna Husieva (soprano), Christopher Turner (tenor) and Emyr Wyn Jones (bass baritone).
